Week 5 CFRA Rankings

We got some new CFRA poll voters this week, and as this poll expands, so does the controversy that emanates from it. The cumulative Top 25 for week 5 shows that the unbeaten Cincinnati and TCU squads are still ranked ahead of all the one-loss teams that are ahead of them in the AP and Coaches. In fact, the two BCS busters, Boise State and TCU, are now right on top of each at the 5 and 6 spots, which could lead to some major BCS-busting controversy as the season progresses. At any rate, here are this week’s College Football Researcher’s Association rankings:
1. Florida (8)- 200 points
2. Texas- 192 points
3. Alabama- 184 points
4. LSU- 173 points
5. Boise State- 170 points
6. TCU- 147 points
7. Cincinnati- 143 points
8. Southern Cal- 141 points
9. Virginia Tech- 135 points
10. Ohio State- 125 points
11. Iowa- 110 points
12. Kansas- 101 points
13. Auburn- 91 points
14. Miami- 88 points
15. Oklahoma State- 85 points
16. Penn State- 83 points
17. Oregon- 67 points
18. Ole Miss- 54 points
19. South Florida- 50 points
20. Missouri- 49 points
21. Nebraska- 44 points
22. Wisconsin- 28 points
22. Oklahoma- 28 points
24. Brigham Young- 27 points
25. Georgia Tech- 25 points
Others Receiving Votes: South Carolina 18, Georgia 17, Michigan 8, Houston 8, Stanford 7, Notre Dame 2
Dropped Out: Houston 12, Michigan 17, Georgia 20, California 24
Major discrepancies with AP/Coaches Polls: Teams ranked at least 4 or spots higher in CFRA- Auburn, South Florida; Teams ranked 4 or more sports lower in CFRA- Virginia Tech, BYU.
Note- the teams ranked in the CFRA poll are the exact same as those in the Coaches’ Top 25.
