These are in order from my most confident pick to least confident. Lines are based on the current spreads at the Caesars Sportsbook.
Las Vegas (+9.5) at Buffalo- (Sun) 1:00– The Raiders looked really good in a hard fought win over the Broncos last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Bills failed to beat a Jets team who had to predominantly play their backup QB this past Monday. I think the Bills will bounce back and win this one on Sunday at home, but the Raiders should keep the game within a possession.
Chicago (+2.5) at Tampa Bay- (Sun) 1:00– I picked the Bears to be my # 1 surprise team of 2023, and I am not going to give up on them after one lackluster performance to start the season. They are the more talented here and should win this one outright.
Pittsburgh (+2.0) vs. Cleveland- (Mon) 8:15- The Steelers absolutely laid an egg against the 49ers last week, but I expect a strong bounce back performance that leads to a win in this divisional rivalry game.
LA Rams (+8.0) vs. San Francisco- (Sun) 4:05– The Rams are much better than I think people realize, as they blew out the Seahawks on the road in week 1. Now, they come home and still find themselves as a big underdog against a team with a significantly less talented QB than their own. The 49ers probably win this game outright, but as I stated about the Bills/Raiders game above, this line shouldn’t be over a touchdown.
NY Jets (+9.5) at Dallas- (Sun) 4:25– Speaking of games with inflated lines, it is shocking how much this spread shot up after Rodgers was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Zach Wilson is not a pro bowler by any means, but he still has enough weapons around him to run a functional offense that is aided by a world-class defense. Expect the Jets to keep this one close in a low scoring tussle in Jerry’s World.
Last Week’s Record: 3-2, Overall Season Record: 3-2 (I backed up my impressive .544 pro football ATS win percentage from last season with another winning record to start 2023.)
