These are in order from least shocking to most shocking according to the current lines at the Caesars Sportsbook.
Washington State (+3.0) vs. Oregon State- 7:00– This seems like a coin flip game, and I give a slight edge to the Cougars here playing at home.
Tennessee (+3.0) at Cleveland- (Sun) 1:00– I don’t the Browns are going to be the same team without Chubb at running back.
Georgia Tech (+3.5) at Wake Forest- 6:30– The Yellow Jackets have hung in there with two teams that are definitely superior to the Deacons in Louisville and Ole Miss.
Oklahoma State (+4.0) at Iowa State- 4:00– The Pokes are bad this year, but I think Iowa State may be worse.
Virginia Tech (+5.0) at Marshall- 12:00– Whenever Group of Five teams take on the role of favorite against their Power 5 counterparts, the Power 5 underdog typically comes into the game with a chip on their shoulder.
Eastern Michigan (+6.0) at Jacksonville State- 5:00– The Gamecocks have definitely exceeded expectations so far in their first year in the FBS ranks, but I am not sure they are good enough to warrant being favorite against a decent EMU team.
Utah State (+6.5) vs. James Madison- 8:00– This is a dangerous cross-country road trip for the Dukes.
SMU (+6.5) at TCU- 12:00– This rivalry game is always close, and TCU is more beatable this season than in year’s past.
San Diego State (+7.0) vs. Boise State- (Fri) 10:30- Both of these teams have had disappointing starts to the season, so I think this one could go either way.
BYU (+8.5) at Kansas- 3:30– I don’t understand this line at all. BYU just won at Arkansas last week, and now they are over a touchdown underdog in Lawrence? I get that Kansas is much improved over the past two seasons, but they aren’t the ’85 Bears.
FIU (+10.0) vs. Liberty- 6:30– The Panthers have been surprisingly decent this season, and Liberty has yet to prove they are anywhere near as good as they were in year’s past.
Northwestern (+11.5) vs. Minnesota- 7:30– Everyone knows Northwestern is horrible, but I think people don’t yet realize that Minnesota isn’t much better.
Baylor (+15.0) vs. Texas- 7:30– Waco has been a house or horrors over the years for favorites that have national title aspirations (see picture below)
Last week’s Upset Pick of the Week: South Alabama (+7.0) over Oklahoma State (Not only did the Jaguars win this game but they absolutely dominated the Pokes!)
