Brad’s 2020 College Football Preview- Disappointment Picks

Every summer since 2007 I have created an intricate set of college football predictions for each upcoming season.  This year is no exception, as I will be using my blog over the next few weeks to publish my 14th annual college football preview guide which will contain 19 entries in all (see July 28th article for full schedule).  Without further ado, here are the teams I am predicting to disappoint this season.  These teams are ordered in the relative disparity between my picks and the experts average while also taking into account the significance of each pick.

Disappointment teams My Predictions: Experts Predictions:
1 Georgia 16th in nation (-10); 3rd in SEC East (-2) 6th in nation; 1st in SEC East
2 TCU 89th in nation (-51); 6th in Big 12 (-2) 48th in nation; 4th in Big 12
3 Utah 58th in nation (-34); 4th in Pac-12 South (-2) 24th in nation; 2nd in Pac-12 South
4 LSU 38th in nation (-33); 4th in SEC West (-1) 5th in nation; 3rd in SEC West
5 Stanford 96th in nation (-51); 6th in Pac-12 South (-3) 45th in nation; 3rd in Pac-12 South
6 Kansas State 90th in nation (-49); 8th in Big 12 (-1) 41stin nation; 7th in Big 12
7 South Carolina 95th in nation (-51); 6th in SEC East (-1) 44th in nation; 5th in SEC East
8 Texas Tech 92nd in nation (-32); 9th in Big 12 (-2) 60th in nation; 7th in Big 12
9 Wyoming 116th in nation (-65); 5th in MWC West (-3) 51st in nation; 2nd in MWC West
10 Eastern Michigan 127th in nation (-10); 6th in MAC West (-1) 117th in nation; 5th in MAC West

As you can see from above, my # 1 disappointment team for the 2020 season is the Georgia Bulldogs.  Yes, the defense should be excellent, but after two years of closely watching quarterback Jamie Newman play at my alma mater Wake Forest I just don’t see him living up to the lofty expectations set for him this season at Georgia.  He was very mistaken-prone at Wake and also never faced the elite defensive lines that he will see in the SEC.  The Dawgs schedule is also brutal which is why I am calling them to lose three games this season and finish third in the SEC East.
