Every summer since 2007 I have created an intricate set of college football predictions for each upcoming season.  This year is no exception, as I will be using my blog over the next few weeks to publish my 14th annual college football preview guide which will contain 19 entries in all (see July 28th article for full schedule).  Over the past five seasons, I have made my college football offseason more expansive by predicting the outcome of every single game that is played by every FBS team over the course of the upcoming season.  I obviously sprinkle a few upsets in there when favored teams matchup poorly with inferior opponents or play them at inopportune times.  Last season, three of my predicted upsets hit including Cincy’s stunning win over UCF, which ended their reign of terror in the AAC, and Baylor’s victory over Texas, which put them in the national title hunt until the very last weekend of the season.  This year’s upset picks are listed below in chronological order, and the ten upset picks that will be the most impactful to the college football playoff picture are marked in bold.  Also, the (H) and (A) written on each line represents whether or not the the team pulling off the upset is playing the game at home or on the road.  Feel free to comment or debate on this post as well as any others included in this preview guide.

My predicted upset of the year is going to happen in week 2 when the Tennessee Volunteers go into Norman and stun the Sooners of Oklahoma!  Because Oklahoma is going to have to break in a new quarterback that is both young and inexperienced, I am predicting thereto be some early offensive struggles for the Sooners.  Also, given how badly Oklahoma has looked against SEC squads in the playoff the past couple of seasons, I think the physicality the teams in that league bring really bothers the Sooners.  Thus, I am picking Tennessee to escape Norman with a W.
