These are in order from least shocking to most shocking according to the current lines at the Caesars Sportsbook.
East Carolina (+3.0) at Brigham Young- (Fri) 8:00– These are two teams headed in opposite directions as the Pirates just knocked off a strong UCF team, and BYU has lost three straight. |
Louisville (+3.5) vs. Wake Forest- 3:30– The Cards have always been a bad matchup for the Deacs, as they should have beaten them last year in Winston-Salem. |
Nebraska (+7.5) vs. Illinois- 3:30– The Huskers are starting to gain some momentum under their interim coach Mickey Joseph, and the Illini are due for a letdown game. |
West Virginia (+7.5) vs. TCU- 12:00– It seems like every season the Mountaineers pull off a big home upset of a ranked foe (last year- Iowa State, 2020- Kansas State, etc.)., and this seems to be a great spot for West Virginia to pull off this feat in 2022. |
Akron (+9.0) vs. Miami-OH- 12:00– The Zips have been coming on strong as of late, and the Redhawks are a banged up shell of the conference title contender they were just a few weeks ago. |
North Texas (+10.0) at Western Kentucky- 3:30– These seem like two evenly matched teams, and even though WKU is at home here, they are also in a natural letdown spot after their thrilling win over UAB last weekend. |
Hawaii (+10.0) vs. Wyoming– 12:00 (AM)– Like Akron, the Rainbow Warriors have emerged from the college football basement to look somewhat respectable the past few weeks. Meanwhile, Wyoming has been blown out in 2 of their 3 road games this season. |
Kentucky (+12.5) at Tennessee- 7:00– I realize the Cats almost never beat the Vols (3-34 in their 37 meetings since I have been alive), but Kentucky has the style of play to frustrate high octane offenses, as evidenced by the Wildcats’ games against both Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Expect a close one here, and if Tennessee is looking ahead too much to next week’s Georgia game, than an outright upset is definitely possible. |
Colorado (+13.5) vs. Arizona State– 7:30– The Buffs are showing signs of life after their horrendous 0-5 start to the season, and I am not sure how motivated the Sun Devils will be here, as a 2-5 team with an interim coach in the midst of a lame duck season. |
Last week’s Upset Pick of the Week: Oklahoma State (+6.5) over Texas (Another good week picking underdogs for me, as three dogs of at least five points from last week’s list pulled off the outright upset.)
