Week 5 College Football (Against the Spread) Picks

These are in order from my most confident pick to least confident. Lines are based on the current spreads at the Caesars Sportsbook.

North Carolina (-9.0) vs. Virginia Tech- 3:30– The Tar Heels let me down last week after I picked them, but the Hokies are really bad and should get blown out here.
Kentucky (+7.0) at Ole Miss- 12:00– I was really surprised to see the line this high. Kentucky has proven it can win big games this year, while Ole Miss has not.
UCLA (+2.5) vs. Washington- (Fri) 10:30– I think the Bruins are still the better team here, and they’re playing at home. The Huskies have started out the season strong but have yet to play a road game in 2022.
Charlotte (+3.0) vs. UTEP- 6:00– As stated in my preseason preview guide, UTEP has never won a game in the eastern time zone in their 108 history of playing college football. The Miners may be the better team here, but I am going on the side of history and calling for the streak to continue.
Georgia (-28.0) at Missouri- 7:30– The Bulldogs will be out for blood after a lackluster performance at home against Kent State.
New Mexico State (-14.5) vs. FIU- 8:00– I can’t believe I am actually laying over two touchdowns with New Mexico State here, but FIU is absolutely atrocious and has yet to lose to an FBS opponent by less than 28 points.
Miami-OH (+1.5) at Buffalo3:30– The Redhawks beat Northwestern on the road last week, so I think they will do the same against a Buffalo team that lost to Holy Cross earlier this season.
Arizona (-17.5) vs. Colorado- 9:30– If you want a foolproof betting strategy for the rest of the season, it would be to bet against FIU and Colorado as many weeks as possible. Especially anytime the line is under 20 points.
UCF (-3.0) vs. SMU- (Sun) 1:00– The Knights are the better team playing at home here, so I don’t think three will be a difficult cover.
Clemson (-6.5) vs. NC State- 7:30– I was surprised at how much trouble Clemson had at Wake last week. However, the Tigers are an entirely different animal (no pun intended) at home.

Last Week’s Record: 1-9, Overall Season Record: 13-27 (Week 4 in college football must be treated just like Rocky V. If you don’t acknowledge that it ever happened, life is a lot better)
